Tracee Ellis Ross to Host 2017 American Music Awards

Tracee Ellis Ross is set to host this year's American Music Awards.

The Black-ish star is no stranger to hosting award shows, having held co-hosting duties for BET's Black Girls Rock! for several years. Ross' hosting duties at the largest fan-voted trophy show is extra special, as her mom, legendary singer/actress Diana Ross, will be honored with the AMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She'll also hit the stage in a rare performance.

“I am thrilled to host this special night which honors some the greatest musical talents in our industry,” said Ross in statement, according to Deadline. “And I’m especially thrilled to host this year when my mother is receiving the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement.”

Rihanna, Drake, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars are among this year's nominees. Drake, Kendrick, and Bruno are all competing for Artist the Year alongside The Chainsmokers and Ed Sheeran. As for Favorite Album Pop/Rock, Drake's More Life, Bruno Mars' 24K Magic and The Weeknd's Starboy are all up for the award. Rihanna is up for Favorite Female Artist- Pop/Rock against Alessia Cara and Lady Gaga, while Drake and Bruno both received nominations in the Favorite Male Artist-Pop/Rock category as well.

The 2017 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microst Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
