it's an absolute pleasure having you join us for this edition our Thisis50 Interview series. So for those not familiar to your name and music, please explain a little about yourself and Background.

What's your artist name and how did u get it?

My name is YH. It stands for Young Hustle or Yelohill. I was given the name Young Hustla just being a young kid always on the move for the next dollar, and staying focused on coming up.

What city are you from? And where do you still reside?

I'm from the West Side Los Angeles, from Pico Blvd, to La Brea, all the way back to La Cienega. I still reside in Los Angeles, and I always will. When I get rich I plan on giving back to the hood.

What inspired you to start making music?

My boy Persist who now works at Worldstar hip-hip called me to come over one day after school when I was seventeen, and when I got there he was playing beats. I told him how much I liked the beats, so he told me to rap on them. I didn't know how to rap at the time, but Persist had been rapping already, so he walked me through the process learning how to flow and rhyme and catch a beat. A few months later, I was writing songs, and had learned how to construct hooks and verses after working with Persist. I gotta thank Persist for getting me into music.

What was the story behind the song and music video Gangsta?

Gangsta is a story a young hustler in the streets LA doing what he can to get by, at the same time planning to come up with his homies f the music as a way out the street life.

Has anyone ever compared you to Nipsey Hussle?

I gotten compared to Nipsey because the way we look, like our hair, and being light skinned and skinny, and also being from the west coast
