Carrie Underwood taken to hospital after horror fall

Carrie Underwood was taken to hospital after a horror fall outside her Nashville home on Friday.

The singer had the accident just a couple days after she hosted the 51st annual CMA Awards.

"On Friday night, Carrie Underwood took a hard fall on some steps outside her home," the singer's rep told ABC News.

"While there were no life-threatening injuries, she was taken to the hospital to be treated.

"She sustained multiple injuries including a broken wrist and some cuts and abrasions from the fall."

They added that Carrie's husband, Mike Fisher "was able to make it back into town that night to be with her and she was released from the hospital".

Carrie thanked her fans on Facebook today for their support.

"Thanks so much for all the well wishes everybody...I'll be alright...might just take some time... glad I've got the best hubby in the world..." she said.

She posted the same message on Twitter - with fans rushing to send her get well messages.

According to The Tennessean, Carrie will no longer be performing at the Country Rising benefit gig tonight. Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban are also on the line-up for the show.

Hopefully Carrie will be back up on stage soon.
